„ You come butterlamp?“

The butterlamp ceremony in Dhansara, India was launched by a vision of H.H. Chhimed Rigdzin, in which Nunda Dorje appeared and gave the advice, that for the peace in the world and the welfare of all sentient beings, Rinpoche has to offer 111 111 butterlamps. In those days Rinpoche was short on money, but he decided to spend his whole fund to fulfil the wish of Nuden Dorje. In the first year, in Bodhgaya 1991, only few disciples and some family members took part.

At that time, as well as today the oil for the butterlamps is a high cost factor 160 000, -Rps (3200 EUR) per year. In the following years more and more participants came to India and Rinpoche collected in Europe some donations for the butterlamps, so that a part of the amount was paid.

Now after his death less people take part, so that it becomes difficult to raise the money. Out of this reason the idea was born, to request persons in Europe, who cannot travel to India to take part in the ceremony, to give a donation for butterlamps and join in this way the blessing for the peace in the world. Also it is important to continue Rinpoche's initiative, which he kept in his heart. Nearly to all, and every year again he asked: “You come butterlamp?” For sure, some of you will remember. He always was happy to have his disciples in India.

Thank you

Ugen Chencho Lama
