GREAT APPEAL TO EVERYBODY!!!
It will be the ninth Butterlamp Offering Ceremony Retreat in Darnków. I am sure that all of you remember that for our teacher Chimed Rigdzin Rinpoche, the Butterlamp Offering Ceremony was especially important and he deeply cared to have it in Darnków every year. Many times Rinpoche used to say that the effect of this practice is immeasurable, for instance preventing wars or shortening their time is just a side effect. Especially today, when the world is in complete turmoil it is necessary to do this practice. In this way we can contribute to stabilization and peace in the world.
Some of you may think that the butterlamp offering practice, and especially cleaning the lamps is good for “the beginners”. However, it is not like that. The practice transforms the consciousness on different levels; moreover, performing it allows gathering great amount of merit and purifying our bed karma. As you know both accumulating merit and purifying bed karma are basic and indispensable conditions to attain enlightenment.
Last year thanks to the great generosity of our sponsors and hard work of the participants of the retreat we managed to offer 111.111 butterlamps, and we hope to do the same this year.
The timetable and whole organization of the last retreat occurred to be a success and therefore we plan to do the same this year. For three weeks we will light 3000 butterlamps twice a day - in the morning and in the afternoon, Big Rigdzin puja in the morning and Butterlamp Offering prayer in the afternoon. In this way there will be more time for cleaning lamps and we will be able to concentrate only on this practice.
To gather as many participants as possible we reduced the fees to 10 PLN per day also for this year. The money covers only the costs of staying in our centre during the retreat.
Nevertheless, to make the retreat happen we need oil ( 3.400 l is needed to fill 111.111 butterlamps), wicks, clothes and airline ticket for Ugyen Lama.
Last year 111.111 lamps were offered only thanks to sponsors who paid for oil.
Therefore we kindly ask everybody to sponsor butterlamps.
Everybody who would like to offer butterlamps but cannot come to Darnków, can participate in the retreat in this way.
ONE BUTTERLAMP is 0.20 PLN, 100 LAMPS is 20 PLN.

To make the organization of the retreat easier please send your application (date of arrival, type of accommodation, type of food) at least 2 weeks before the planned arrival.
For people who don't send the application there is no guarantee of accommodation and food !!!
Accommodation in dormitory (limited number of places, please apply ) or in private tents on our camping site.
Vegetarian or non-vegetarian food possible.
- Nights in the mountains are cold even in summer.
- Weather in Darnków changes rapidly. Taking wellingtons and a raincoat can save you a lot of trouble.
- Please think over the idea of taking pets, especially dogs.
- There is no regular transport to Darnków. You can take a bus to Jeleniow or Kudowa Zdrój, and continue on foot, hitchhike or by taxi. We have a special price - 25 PLN, from the taxi nr 11, which can take up till 8 people from Kudowa to our center.
