Plans for the future functioning of the Siliguri Gompa

It was Rinpoche’s dearest wish to finish the construction of the Siliguri Gompa and to start with its functioning as a monastery as soon as possible. With his last words Rinpoche expressed his concern for the Gompa and its financial situation. Only some minutes before he did his last breath Rinpoche said to me (Ugen) and Sashi (in nepali language): „Bank Ma Paisa Aako Cha ki Chaina? Malai Ek Lakh Rupieya chaincha. Gompa sakno ko lagi ajaio kati paisa lagcha hola? Asha garchu sapai kam pura huncha ra December-ma Gumba banag nu sakincha. Translation: Did money received in our bank? I need one Lakh Rupees (was a joke). How much do we still need to make the Gompa? Hope everything will be complete for the Gompa before December“. After this he asked me to get him some small change. When I brought the coins to him he was very happy and he said: „I am very happy to see your love for me. Hence onward I don't need money for myself.“ This were his last words.

Regarding the future functioning of the Gompa Rinpoche had directed me to start with five small monks. As I am planning to go to Tibet next spring I have a plan following Rinpoche’s instruction to invite two Lamas from Khordong Gompa in Kham/Tibet. They should look after all duties concerning the daily functioning of the Gompa according to the Khordong tradition. However I am looking for a couple of young monks, who can educate the little boys and take care of the Gompa.
We (the Chhimed Rigdzin Society) are looking for sponsors for the young monks. They will need about 2000 Indian Rupees/month (about 50 Euro), this includes food, payment for cook, clothes, education, books, medicines etc., but it doesn't cover the costs of building their house. For a teacher who teaches these young monks the costs would be 5000 Rupees/month (3000 Rs salary and 2000 Rs livelihood).

We plan to make a library in the first floor of the Gompa with an audio/video section. We request everybody to donate generously the books and audio/video CDs for this purpose. To begin with the library I propose to bring all the books, audio and video CDs that are available at my residence at Khordong Labtrang.
