2377 are footprints of one of the young Dorje Drak tulkus (he is mentioned in the travel guide for Tibet by Gyurme Dorje)
Like many monasteries they are rebuilding after being destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. There are about 34 monks now residing there. The head Dorak Rigzin Chenpo lives
in LHasa but visits the monastery. When I was there, September 2004, they were building a stupa. Approximately the same size as the
one at Khordong Gompaland near Siliguri/West Bengal.
